Services
Vaccination Programs A long with annual exams, our veterinarians recommend that all your pets be vaccinated against infectious diseases. Dogs should be vaccinated against distemper-adenovirus, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and rabies. Kennel cough (Bordetella) and Lyme disease vaccines are highly recommended. Cats should be vaccinated against feline panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and rabies. Vaccination against feline leukemia virus is also highly recommended.
Radiology
We have full radiology services. Our digital radiograph processor allows us to have films in about 4 seconds. This allows your vet to quickly assess a problem and decide on the proper course of treatment.
Dentistry
Dental care is important in preventing diseases and infections not just in the mouth, but of the vital organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys. First of all we educate you on the prevention of dental disease. Regular oral exams by our veterinarians can help recognize problems early so we can treat and correct them. Our dentistry suite includes an ultrasonic scaler, high speed drill, and a low speed polisher. We also have a dental x-ray unit. All dental procedures are performed under anesthesia using the safest drugs available.
During a dental procedure each tooth is examined for signs of disease, then it is scaled and polished. Any diseased teeth are radiographed and evaluated by the veterinarian, who then decides the proper course of treatment. Remember, the best treatment for dental disease is prevention.
Ultrasound / Endoscopy
We work with a traveling internal medicine veterinarian who specializes in ultrasonography and endoscopy. The veterinarian travels from clinic to clinic providing these invaluable services to our clients.
Surgery and Anesthesia
All of our veterinarians are skilled at performing various surgical procedures. Our surgical suite is outfitted with top of the line surgical equipment. We use only the safest anesthetic drugs available, along with the care of our highly trained staff, to make your pet's visit with us as safe and comfortable as possible. During a surgical procedure, pets are monitored by a surgical technician along with ECG (monitors the heart's electrical function), Pulse Oximetry (measures pulse and oxygen saturation in the blood), and a Doppler blood pressure monitor.
Before putting any animal under anesthesia, we will run a few quick blood tests to ensure their wellbeing. If you have an older pet, or a pet with a medical condition, your vet might recommend a more extensive lab work up prior any procedure. This may include radiographs and/or ultrasound as well. All animals have an intravenous catheter placed to deliver anesthetics as well as, IV fluids, pain medications and antibiotics if needed. We work with a board certified orthopedic surgeon that comes to our hospital to perform various orthopedic procedures.
Laboratory
In our lab we can do urinalysis, fecal analysis, feline leukemia/feline immunodeficiency virus tests, CBC (complete blood count), and other common blood tests. Our VetTest chemistry machine allows us to have important lab results within 5 minutes. We have an in-house electrolyte analyzer, in an emergency situation we can get valuable information in minutes that may help save the life of your pet. For complete laboratory work-ups we send all samples to an off-site laboratory. We normally receive most results within 24 hours.
Microchipping
Microchipping is a permanent identification for your pet. It comes as a tiny chip that is quickly and safely injected under your pets skin via a needle. Each chip has a unique number that is detected with a hand held scanner. Your pets ID number is registered in a national database. We recommend all pets be microchipped, especially those that go outdoors. The microchip can not be lost or taken off like tags, and it travels cross country with your pet.
On-site Pharmacy
The hospital pharmacy has a wide variety of medications, including: anti-parasitics, antibiotics (oral and injectable), antihistamines, NSAID's (non-steroidal anti-inflammatories), otic (ear) and ophthalmic (eye) drugs, and many others. We also have a full line of heartworm preventatives and flea & tick medications.
Emergency Care
Our hospital is equipped for emergency care. During hospital hours we will gladly see your pet in an emergency situation. We are not a 24 hour care facility. After hours a veterinarian is on call and can be reached by pager up until 10:00pm seven days a week. If your pet requires treatment we can not provide we will refer you to a nearby emergency facility.
Tonometry
We have an instrument called a Tonopen. A tonopen is used to measure the intraocular pressure of the eye. This is a valuable tool to our vets in the early detection of eye disease; such as Glaucoma.
ECG Services and Blood Pressure Monitoring
Electrocardiogram equipment is available to monitor your pet's heart function. We also have two different types of blood pressure monitors to further help ensure your pets cardiovascular health.
